Highlights of smiles
The coolest part about today is when I was helping a guest and I told her, her mother's kurta is beautiful. I asked if I said it right (kind of knowing I did) but I wanted her opinion. She said yes. Even more cool was us talking about how I got into wearing Indian clothes verses western wear. I, this fair skin, freckled redhead, likes Indian clothes and has been wearing it since high school. Just never really had a place to wear it until a few years ago.
Then I explained to her I still collect. I can't wear all the pieces I have but I still wear a few. I told her how I loved the kurta salwar, lehenga choli and some sarees. And she was shocked I liked to wear them. As she was helping her mother I explained that if a woman ever owned anything, let it be a saree. She said that is so beautiful.
Then the surprise came, do you have a card that I can have of your name? I said I don't have anything like that but I could give you my name and number. Then she said, because when I go to India I want to get you something.
Stunned. My jaw dropped to the floor. Someone wants to get me something? Remarkable.
All because I said her mother's kurta was beautiful.
She asked me if I would ever visit India if I had a chance. I said to her that, that is my number one place I want to visit. Followed by Turkey and Greece. Those are on top wish list or bucket list to do. And she told her mother.
They both smiled and said keep holding that as a dream. Such love.
Ah. It is wonderful for sure.
Just the day was so good even after all that disrespect this afternoon.
A hope of peacefulness displayed so well.
Indeed I am still smiling.
