Child's view of a dance

Softly the toes touch the floor. Twirling
around causes a soft copper whip. Sweetly the echo
of laughter falls. Down upon the soul inside. Deeper
still to the spirit, a small glimmer of hope and joy
shines.

Ah happiness shown inside a circle of limbs.
Turning and turning until a smile opens across my
face. Ah the pullings of Mozart echoing inside my
mind.

A whisper, a reminder of a small child
standing lightly on her grandfather's toes, leaning
back. Red hair and lots of giggles as strong arms hold
her in a dance. Swirling. Such joy in the moment.

The lesson learned of how to cherish, how
to love forever and the abundance of joy in the
smallest thing.

What more could a child ask for?

Ah a sight brings me back to now. Holding
closely the joy and brightness of the sweetest memory.

Soon I will begin work. More and more of
possibility to gain a few steps intertwined with fancy
foot work. Simple and joyful.

Hmm life is okay but the spirit shines bright.
Ah a dance of life I thank Jehovah for.

A silent nod. All I ask of my friends is to
recall a dance that held your hopes high just as mine
still does.

Could you do that for me?
