Crisp leaves than rain a memory
Scents arise from the moist earth.
Cool, crisp sighs wave deep throughout
my soul, my lungs.
Leaves crunch beneath my soled feet.
A warm cinnamon breath I intake.
A smile that spills over my face.
My mind triggers a memory.
A carride with family down, out in
country. Watching, photographing
the sprinkles of red, orange and yellow.
I close my eyes to remember
the joy of the moment, the happiness
of giddy children. Enjoying
a deep chuckle that rains throughout
the car.
Salt and pepper. Missing those
gone. A sad note halts the time.
A reminder to self, they too will
get a chance just as I will.
Backing out of those lost days.
Yesterday is but a memory.
Humming to self and kicking
the leaves in late evening. Enjoying so
much I feel like "singing in the rain" only
with crunchy leaves. Oh how the smile
once again appears.
Warm nights. Sweet memories, melodies.
A silent reminder of joy, happiness and love.
