Eyes near closure
Rolling down the covers the mind gathers still
some random roaming thoughts. Pulling them closer
still to a holding cage. Ah just until the eyes close.
Hmm. A rumble of clatter falls echoing behind me.
Staring out into the darkened room I just wait.
Praying that sleep my pale soul does receive.
Only hope is that I wake up in the morning hours.
To the exact second of six hours. Hmm down, down
relaxes the muscles.
Soon the rest becomes ever quiet. Silencing the
heart to a smaller beat. Oh how the eyes drop then
pop back open.
In need to close, turn off all the loose ends. Frays
that want, demand more time than that I have saved.
Oh how I know the quiet, quirky woman is prepared.
Closing. Closing. Hoping my strongest pray just
for you. So keep close and hug me tightly. Oh
say good night goofy. I smile.
